Two Serious Ladies is magazine that promotes women and women-identifying writers and artists.
It was created in February of 2012 by Lauren Spohrer.
The name comes from the 1943 short novel by Jane Bowles.
Jane Bowles was in love with her Moroccan housekeeper, Cherifa. Once Cherifa hid a packet of blood and pubic hair under a plant and asked the plant to “talk to Jane and tell her that I’m in charge here.”
