Two Poems by Carolyn Murphy

How I have to leave

how to finger     after
before     you  forget     when
do you clean house, pack books into boxes
with notes in margins, the
coffee cups, Dutch oven for Dad so he
what a proper—
what

Observe

a beer in
jest wonders
how long it
actually
takes

machine
meat learns the
drift
sequence

project
the     absurdity of
real    hips
of deer
that take
bananas
from your palm
